How to Plan Corporate Gifts That Clients Keep

Plan Corporate Gifts

Corporate gifts are a great way to thank your clients, encourage motivation and loyalty among employees and suppliers, and keep your business partnerships strong. But sometimes these gifts just end up on a shelf and are forgotten. If you want your gift to be noticed and actually used, here are some simple steps to help you choose the right one in 2025.

Think About the Recipient

Start by focusing on the person or team you are giving the gift to and think about ways in which your gift can actually provide value.

For instance, you may consider what you know about them from your business relationship. If you know they like coffee, books, or cooking, try to pick something in that area. Even a small bit of knowledge can help you choose a gift that feels personal instead of generic.

Match the Gift to The Relationship

Not every client should get the same thing. For your long-term or important clients, you might spend a bit more or choose something unique. For newer or smaller accounts, a thoughtful, smaller item works fine. Try sorting your client list into groups based on how closely you work with each one and consider how you can provide value to the client and your company alike.

For instance, if you are expanding your team with offshore or remote talent, digital gifts or vouchers can be a great way to support morale and strengthen relationships at a distance. Remember that the right gift can play a major role in helping you support your company’s long-term success.

Choose Local and Regional Products

Picking a gift that is made locally can be a great idea to provide a visiting partner or client a souvenir that they can enjoy and take with them. Local items show that you put thought into the gift.

For example, if your business is based in Ontario or you have a visitor or partner coming to your area, you could source Purdys chocolate in Ottawa to add to a personalized gift basket. Local food, handmade items, or small-batch goods are often enjoyed and easier to remember. They can also fit many different client tastes – and in a suitcase during business travel!

Add a Personal Touch

No matter what you give, never miss out on adding a little personal touch. There are many ways to do so. For instance, you can write a short thank you note or put the client’s name or company logo on the item if possible. In your note, consider referencing a shared project or a recent win in your message. These small details show that you care about the relationship, not just the business!

Make Delivery Simple

Aside from the gift per se, it is also important to plan how your gifts will get to your clients. You can send gifts by mail or deliver them in person if your client is nearby. In these cases, always use good packaging to protect the gift and make it look nice. However, if your business partners, suppliers, or employees are located abroad or work remotely, you may need to consider these logistical challenges. Of course, double check the address and spelling when you order, and consider international shipping or digital products for more streamlined delivery.

Don’t Forget Business Rules

Before you send any gifts, check for any company rules about receiving gifts. Some businesses do not allow gifts over a certain amount or may only allow certain types of items. You don’t want to put your client in an awkward situation by giving them something they can’t accept. So, be sure to research specific policies and consider speaking to the HR or PR departments to gain clear information.

Simple, Thoughtful Gifts Make a Big Impact

Corporate gifting does not have to be complicated. By thinking about your client’s interests, adding a personal touch, and planning ahead, you can give a gift they’ll appreciate and actually keep. A little thought goes a long way—and your business relationships get even stronger!
